Wild Wednesday - Small Tortiseshell
Well I was going to title this as the first small tortoiseshell but I realise I blipped one back in March. It was wonderful to see this one feeding on some corn marigolds at the edge of a field full of green manure. I was on the way to have a mooch at a patch of land that looks like it might have been a wild allotment at some stage. Now it's just wild and overgrown and not at all picturesque or blipworthy. It did look like it would be a wonderful haven for wildlife though.
It's been foggy, drizzly, hot and sunny today and now I can hear thunder rumbling.
Thanks Cailleach for hosting Wild Wednesday.
