Summer's Day!

After a late night watching the Olympic opening ceremony, we had a long lie this morning, Postie's weekend off, don't you know! To blow the cobwebs away Ollie and I took him for a walk, round the headland and back along the shore, our favourite walk.

The grass was really soaking, I think it rained all night, but the sun was shining and it was a beautiful morning. Perfect weather to appreciate the true colours of Orkney.

This afternoon I was working in the craft shop. Amazingly a couple from Lytham St Annes came in, a few years older than me, but lots of shared memories including of working taking pony rides on the beach! We chatted for ages, really interesting swapping stories about growing up there in the late 60s and early 70s. I love working in the shop, meeting and chatting to folk from all over the world, all with fascinating stories and life histories.

Didn't cycle to the shop today, because the Fish & Chip van is in the village on a Saturday evening, and two fish suppers would have been pretty cold and unappetising after a 40 minute bike ride home!
