Friday Market
We have been ignoring the market that occurs every Friday in the Plazuela de San Francisco because we have been concentrating on visiting the villages where these goods are supposedly produced. Today, still a bit car-lagged from yesterday's travels, we decided to check it out. Both Shelley and I were very glad we did, she because of the variety of pottery (some things we had not seen in all our travels) and me because of the photographic opportunities (a wide variety of different items all in one place). I chose this image because it is one I could take at no other village or town we have visited around the lake. Nowhere else do the artisans pile their goods on the sidewalk waiting for shoppers to walk by. Even Quiroga, with its extensive market, contains everyone in stalls or tiendas. The Plazuela de San Francisco is filled with these vendors from early morning (I think) until about 15:00, when everyone packs up their large amount of goods and goes back to the village.
