Wasn't it great before all the EU legislation.

The annual visit the AA offices in Piccadilly and filling in forms and getting the application sent off and the opportunity to search the shelves for the latest maps of France, stickers for the headlamps. will be going to Italy and need Fuel Coupons? and and and....Sadly we didn't have mobile phones back then to worry about roaming charges - I got my first one around 1988 but one could hardly have  called it "mobile" - in fact it was very firmly built in the the car.
