Rainy Days and Mondays
It turned out to be both this morning, a delightful protest against the official start of summer- smashing!
We had an Inset today. I hauled myself up after 7am, naughty me. Everything hurt, namely my back from some over-enthusiastic giants at gym last night. I imagine everyone will be feeling it as it was shut during the week so our muscles have had a good rest ;-)
The "training" was in fact, a complete waste of time, and I didn't hesitate to write that on my evaluation form. As did a few of my colleagues. Apologies for (yet) another rant about the teaching profession, but how, just how, can you assimilate three hours of utter ***** and then expect applause and a pat on the back at the end of it?! I cannot fathom how. I think the worst part was when the lady leading it kept asking us to discuss things, and then just as the conversation got going, proceeded to count down loudly from five to one with her hands counting down a finger at a time! I just find it extremely condescending, and I did feed that back. I'm sure that wasn't their intention, they seemed like nice ladies. And the focus of the training? Don't shout at the children, listen to them and deal with things calmly. Um, no shit Sherlock! I'm not one to big myself up, but those folks that know me well, know that that's pretty much the way I've been since the get-go. Who wants to be yelled at all day long? Horrible for the children, and I don't really enjoy getting all aeriated either!
Sigh. All right, no more teacher talk. The highlight of the day was being allowed to leave at lunchtime. We had planned some stuff, but the general consensus was that we all would appreciate time to write reports. And the time was much appreciated. As soon as I got home, the sun came out, and it was a lovely day.
I relaxed, spent time with Little B, watched a Teen Mom marathon whilst I worked, and had a good chat on the phone with a friend. We talked about career plans, and I felt quite inspired. It was just so nice to have down time, on a work day.
I can imagine I could get quite used to working part-time;-)
Shelle brought B a new toy that squeak, and he had a lovely time annoying the neighbours whilst he played in the garden.
I hope we have some sun this week, it is June after all.....
