Verona

We've had a wonderful day in Verona; what a beautiful city.
The Arena which was once an amphitheatre was preparing for the opera season, getting the set for a production of Aida in place.

The tourist trade is largely predicated on 'Juliet's balcony' and given she is a fictional character is quite bizarre. The area around it is choca block with people queuing to have a quick feel of her right breast (men) or arm (women) supposedly imbued with magical powers of sexual prowess.

It is a vibrant city, full of fantastic architecture, creativity and warmth.

We travelled back on the bus taking it in turns to doze arriving back in Garda in time for another round of Skip-Bo (I'm catching up) and the England match (yawn) :)
