The accidental finding

Tea Rose

Bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 today meant that we had a slow journey to the airport to collect my niece, who was on a flight from Heraklion. She is travelling on up to Glasgow tomorrow, to spend a month with her UK granny and cousins, but is overnighting with us. We were listening to the Men's Cycling race as we hastened to get there in time for her arrival. However, it turned out that she had been held for questioning by the UK border authorities, because of her dual nationality and the fact that she was travelling on a Greek ID card rather than a UK passport. As she had been told in advance that these documents would be fine, and she is just fifteen, it was an unnerving experience, leaving her with a strong urge to give more than one person 'a piece of her mind'.

However, back in the more pleasant world, I did manageto blip my David Austin rose this morning. I bought this Golden Celebration rose some years ago, and neglected it terribly. mainly because we could not decide where to plant it. I have now given it new potting compost, and it is producing blooms. Not many so far, but it is a sweet scented start.
