Tube Lining
We spent the day up in Ironbridge - managed to fit in a visit to the Broseley Pipeworks and the Jackson Tile Museum. We'll have to return another day to do the rest of it (rather like back in February!)
They had some tile painting workshops so we thought we'd have a go. I had no idea it was such a lengthy process. First the image is copied on to the tile using trusty carbon paper. Then the image is outlined in slip - seriously hard work, thankfully I was able to draw on some icing techniques to assist. Then the colours are 'dabbed' on - and they dry quick. We left the tiles to be fired in the kiln at over 1000 degrees and then they will hopefully post the resulting tiles back to us next week once they've cooled. I can't wait to see our tiles.
In other news (as this was back blipped) - did you watch the Opening Ceremony? Wow - we did, what a truly wonderful spectacle. Well done to Danny Boyle for the idea and all the people that participated. Huge well done to the drummers - their ams must have been aching by the end.
