Annual Walking Day

Backblip
It was the annual church and community walking day, a major event for the village. Thankfully the weather remained fine. The church was packed with approx 800 people, mainly children, for the short service at the start. We then had to have an impromptu singing session due to a problem outside. Eventually we were able to get started and the long procession made its way through the village. Lots of people were lining the streets to watch. Another successful day. This is a tradition that goes back to the 1860's.
To celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday we had suggested people dress in red, white and blue and we gave out 1000 flags to the children to wave as they walked.
When it was finished I went on to a friend's 25th wedding anniversary celebration.
