Turks Cap Lily
My old garden was open under Scotland's Garden Scheme as one of a number of village gardens. There was a lot of work involved but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. One day I would hope to open again.
In the meantime, we can visit others and this afternoon we did just that Dippollbank Cottage in Lanarkshire. It was a cottage in a woodland setting. The area around the cottage had been cultivated as a veg garden - originally to show the kids where their food came from and the owner just carried on. Really productive. In the woodland was an extensive tree house now a delightful den with great views over the surrounding countryside. The garden was full of nooks and crannies, polytunnels, glasshouses - all built using recycled materials. Lots of places to sit and enjoy sheltered from the rain.
The plants were well on with more to come so the garden will be open later on in the summer. Lovely turks cap lilies further on than they are here.
And, there was a cup of tea, some home baking and the purchase of some plants.
