Proud Parent

Here is the ragged Robin I blipped yesterday..........with TWO lovely fledglings ( I could only get one in the photo, sorry ) .......so all his parenting efforts have paid off  :-)

I have included an extra of a mystery spider ( PLEASE DON'T LOOK IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPIDERS.......it's a bit scary).....I'm hoping someone will be able to tell me what sort it is and why it's guarding that large sphere so carefully.......I'm assuming it contains babies but as I've never seen anything quite like it before, I would like to have it confirmed.  It's very small ( body length about 3-4mm) - (that is a stinging nettle leaf that it is sitting on, for scale)........and it was quite hairy.   Hope someone can tell me all about it  :-)
