Tech21
The weekly blip challenge is "technology" . One of our errands today took us to the phone store (T-mobile) as H's phone hasn't been ringing for a week and he's missed calls ( that do go to voicemail). Seems it was a setting that got somehow switched to "do not disturb". Easy. ( but not for us)
When we first were at "our" island in Canada's Gulf Islands in 1990, the new owners decided not to pay a huge fee for getting a land line phone service there. ( thank goodness) The phone that worked was a big brick that got carried around and we had to take the boat out to the main channel to get any service at all. Then there was some intermittent cell service with dial up internet that was impossible. Years later we found a "cyber spot" 15 minutes up the hill that could get an internet signal line of sight from a nearby island (Saltspring) After that the phone data got better but practically we had to have an American phone and a Canadian phone . After that a repeater was placed in Montague Harbor on nearby Galiano Is. and a receiver could be placed at the top of a 97 ft tree next to our cabin to get the signal line of sight.
2 years ago this phone co. brought out service that covered both countries the same with one phone. ( and basically the rest of the world with wifi) . So it took from 1990 til recently to go from no communication at our island cabin to almost the same as in the city.
Technology!
But we still need help working the phone!
Of course I had to take the photo with the iPhone and mess with some apps ( MobileMonet and PS express) to get this painterly version, just for fun, ( the store photos were very dull) of a rack of colorful tech21 cases for the iphone with a guy waiting for a techie to "fix" his phone.
