big ears

We got a call from the farmer who's providing the pig for our party on Saturday to say that he'd underestimated the size of the pig and now that it was ready for roasting, it was going to be far too big for the spit that we'd hired! They were going to have to cut it into bits!  Or just give us from the shoulders down.  I was annoyed as I'd wanted to see the whole pig cooking, rather than bits and pieces...and Pierre and his family were annoyed because they'd been looking forward to eating the head and ears!!  Pierre, his dad, and my dad headed up to the farm to speak to Cedric. He explained what we'd be getting and he'd already started butchering it - he had the head there for them to take home as well as the ears - which are massive!! 

Cedric also explained that it wouldn't be bits and pieces we'd be getting - it would be an entire piece so would look impressive on the day :)
