My wheels for the day

I was roped in to drive the minibus and trailer (again) to take our year 5 Go-Kart crew to their race day in Rochester. Such an amazing project. The children build their own karts from kits, design and build the 'bodywork' from recycled materials, and then get together with other schools to race! Who wouldn't have LOVED to do that as a ten-year old? We have two karts, so 12 children got to race in this all day event. We got lots of second and third places and won 'best teamwork'- go Fairchildes!!!

It was pretty cool turning up with our trailer and wheeling the karts down the ramp, while other schools were dragging out their sections of kart from 4x4s and bolting them back together. Made a good place to hide from the wind too. (Unfortunately not the nicest day weather-wise, but at least the rain held off.)

And, I think I'm getting the hang of reversing!!! Backed it perfectly into a bay once back at school.
