On the lookout...

A quick walk along the canal today lifted my mood after last week when I stayed indoors more than usual, but the Damsel Flies I went looking for eluded me.  Last year I knew of three places I could find them and those places seemed to hold large colonies;   I'm just hoping last winter's floods didn't wipe them out.  I suppose I should really wait for a warm sunny day when I'll be more likely to see them  -  fingers crossed that they're still in residence along my stretch of the canal.
