Snowdon via the Watkin Path

Decided to have a go at Snowdon following the path that ran almost from our front door. Had the Watkin path almost to ourselves for most of the way. Felt a bit smug (and not as decrepit as we thought) as we overtook a couple at least 20 years younger than us on the way.

Views on the way up were amazing, the skies were clear and the sun came out. The last bit of the path was really hard work as it was very steep with no real defined track and few footholds. Made it to the top with a puce face and sweating buckets only to get nearly blown over by the strong cold wind at the summit. The sun was replaced by thick, low cloud that obscured the views almost completely.

Headed to the final summit point and had to wait to get to the very top as it was very busy. The coffee and currant slice from the cafe tasted like heaven after the slog to the top.

We followed a different path down (back into sun within minutes) and managed to make it back within about 6 hours. Knees and calves may take much longer than 6 hours to recover......
