Earle
Today I attended the funeral of a lovely man.
I met Earle about 10 years ago in a French class and a good friendship developed.
Learning a foreign language at our age isn't easy but we had lots of fun. Earle distinguished himself by enrolling in a university French course last year and got high distinctions in his exams. He sat his last exam so recently the results aren't even out yet.
Originally from NZ, he was a qualified pharmacist and worked nights to put himself through medical school in Sydney.
He made a career as a general practitioner and you didn't need to have been his patient to know he would have been a first rate one.
Although he seemed at least 15 years younger, Earle died 2 days before his 85th birthday. He is survived by his wife, Jenny, his sons and grandsons and will be greatly missed by many.
