Heron on the inlet

It was a stunningly beautiful day today. Morning frost, clear skies, there was some in the sun, little wind - just perfect. We took the dogs for a walk, and I spotted this heron picking over the seaweed at the north end of our beach. I walked out a little to take a shot, and kept following it to get closer. Initially I tried keeping my shoes dry but in the end, abandoned that to get closer to the heron. Eventually it flew away from me, but here is the more static shot.
