Convoy
Nine cygnets definitely constitute a convoy. The huge swan family seems to be thriving although the parents weren't keeping quite such a firm rein on things when they were on land - at one stage there was a multi-bird group including jackdaws and mallards with half of the cygnets sitting on the path while the others stayed by their parents. One of the jackdaws even gave a tentative peck to a cygnet on the path, and the male swan didn't bat an eyelid!
With all the rain we've had recently, the water level was quite a bit higher than at my last visit and I'm afraid that both the coot nests may have been flooded - no sitting was taking place. Maybe there is time to start again.
