Occasional Musings

Angel of the North

Our Angel looked beautiful today in the afternoon sunshine, I took loads of pics, although most of them had bodies milling around the feet as there were a lot of people out and about enjoying the crisp weather.

I confess to having been very dubious when this sculpture first went up, quite a lot of "bah, what a waste of money, it could be better spent on..." but I have to admit as time has gone on (and on) it's grown on me and now I'd really miss it if it ever had to leave. I'd love to see it floodlit at some point too.

I really liked Domain Field by the same sculptor, which was one of the first exhibits in the Baltic Art Centre when that first opened. They installed it in the uppermost gallery, where the light could filter through the individual figures, casting the most amazing shadows... now THAT would have been worth blipping!!

A lovely day here, started by making brunch for a friend - smoothies, bacon sarnies and good strong coffee - then a little trip to a Traidcraft sale and back home via the above blippertunity. Now it's an evening of sorting out the (freecycled) TV, sorting out all things musical for two sets of singing tomorrow, extracting the Christmas decorations from the loft and getting an early night...

Hope everyone's having a good weekend :)

(edit: there's a few more Angel shots here)
