Birthday....number FOUR!

Another day and another surprise at work!

This time, a belated birthday present off the lovely Mike, who is our VT dentist.

I really wasn't expecting it, so it was a huge surprise when he passed me the bottle of prosecco. Even more of a surprise when he also handed me a bottle of rose!

I joked that my colleagues must think I'm a right lush with the amount of alcohol I got from them all, but it's well received even if it will probably take me til Christmas to drink it all.

It was my afternoon off today, so I got some more shopping for Mum and took her some more meals. This time, I took her stuff that I've made and frozen so at least I know she's getting some decent grub rather than naff supermarket ready meals.

I was kind of shamed into this by a patient. I was saying how naff ready meals are and he asked if I cook for myself at home.

When I said yes, he suggested I make extra and box it up for Mum. I have to confess, I never even thought about that!

I felt so guilty about her eating those (even though she has been loving them) while we eat freshly prepared meals at home.

So she's now got a chicken curry, a chilli (with 2 packs of microwaveable rice) and a spag bol ragu with some frozen mixed veg (she doesn't like spaghetti).

I'll make some more up ready for my next visit on Saturday.

My Sister had been today and dropped Theia off with Mum while she took Theo for his induction day at nursery. I wasn't best pleased about Mum babysitting so soon, but she's coped well and she's been glad of something to break up the boredom of her day.
Once Theia had been collected, I had a good tidy round as Mum is getting frustrated that the house is a tip and she can't clean up. It's not that bad but when you're house proud, not being able to clean up is a pain.

Another thing she is struggling with is washing her hair. She managed (just) to do it yesterday by leaning over the bath. I've said I'll help her do it again at the weekend.

She is doing remarkably well though, I'm proud of how she's coping :-)
