Juvenile Robin

I went to Birnie Loch (local nature reserve) this afternoon to see what was about. Answer: nothing much.

Very disappointing. It seems to have been a less productive year as far as the wildlife is concerned. Far fewer gull chicks than normal, also fewer ducks. Woodland birds didn't seem too badly affected.

Only 4 or 5 butterflies around - one red admiral and about 4 male ringlets.

Best on offer today is this juvenile European robin, (Erithacus rubecula).
