Red, white and blue

Today, June 12, is Russia Day.  It's as close as Russia gets to an independence day (in this case, independence from the rest of the Soviet Union).

The day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) on June 12, 1990. Basically, the beginning of constitutional reform in the Russia part of the Soviet state which led ultimately to Russia becoming an independent state again.
