Morning on the farm
13th June 2016:
In a contry falling apart in terms of food security, where maybe a third of the population are in or moving in to famine, it is wonderful to see what CAN be done by serious, hard working Malawians.
The main picture shows the sowing and watering of apple rootstock brought north about 600 km by Laston and Adamson before the weekend travelling by bus overnight.
Our team on the farm had the area prepared and ready, so all 2920 were sown over the weekend. the result of exact planning and hard work, both rare qualities here.
Other pics show our new high quality pineapple which i'm looking forward to tasting. Then Adamson with earlier apple rootstock ready for budding in three weeks.
The vegetables are showing well even in this cold season. This is now the domain of new man Blair.
If we include 5000 apple seedlings they hope to have 35,000 improved variety fruit tree seedlings in all this year.
WOW!!
