Cheese but at a price, around £10.00 a piece
Last night we stayed on a camp site in Driva near Oppdal on route E06. Possibly the best site we have come across in a non assuming way although overall costly. We booked in for two nights at about £22.00 a night with electricity which is OK but 2 loads of washing and drying the laundry came to about £15.00. On the plus side the washing and drying machine proved to be efficient. Pay the money woman.
A slow day with a trip into Oppdal for bread and to look for a place to deal with the flat tyre. A repair tyre service was found - look for the word Dekkmann in case the need should arise - and job done. On the way into the town we spotted a few bakeries come Kafes that were open, a must to visit. I bought two foccacio, two huge cinnamon buns, a loaf and two very good sultana raison pastries, a little like pain au raison. We sat outside eating and gazing with a good strong coffee. When waiting for the coffees I looked into the kitchen with interesting foods on the go and a pile of sour dough baskets on a shelf. If we hadn't eaten the huge pasty lunch would been good.
Vang burial mound Oppdal.
When waiting for the tyre repair we came across a tourist signed car park and a walk through to an ancient burial ground. The notice told us it's the largest Iron Age burial site in Norway. Over the centuries looters and archaeologists (love the words here depending on which century you came from) have found treasures here and for us it was a pleasant wander for an hour. Warm and sunny with clouds.
