Leaving Boats
Ok, so the excitement of my time in Scotland has taken over me and I have failed in my task to record each day.
Today was spent in the company of a very soggy young sea eagle, who sat miserably in his nest, waiting for his parent's return. We stood miserably in the woods staring at him. He stood and we stood.
Some day soon he will have grown the necessary feathers and fly free, but for now he waits.
On the way home the weather improved and we were given the opportunity to view one of his parents, perhaps, sat proudly in a tree, ignoring the irritations of unhappy gulls. More sea eagles, golden eagles and an owl followed, all taking advantage of the break in the weather and flying free.
Finally we came to these old boats - something curiously interesting in their abandonment and the contrast with the young bird waiting to fly free. These boats had been left and would never sail the seas again. I wondered whom they had belonged to and why they had been left? Where the sailors sailing on some sleeker vessel, wandering still the freedom of the high seas? Or were they locked to the land and struggling to remember things long forgotten?
