Neglected

Once fierce guardian
Surrenders sulphur corrodes
Lichen reclaims wood

This morning I had a stroll around the Maori village at Ohinemutu.  I was still trying to slow myself down and take more simple images.  I didn't expect to get an image for derelict Sunday.  Most of the buildings are in good order with their carvings painted in dark red paint.  This chap is part of a series of figures on a fence.  He hasn't been maintained for some time and his carved patterns are receding as the strong sulphur environment corrodes the wood.  In the extra you can see even concrete will  deteriorate.
