There used to be a wonderful statue /sculpture here, when this was R W Forsyths. It was a hollow metal sphere with figures of cherubs around it and a band with the signs of the zodiac around its centre. It was taken down for repair in 2012 by the present owners, the Top Shop group and never put back. The council intervened last year and it was due to be put back in March. Not sure why it is not there yet.
On another topic, Forsyths was a wonderful shop, a stockist of high quality mens and womens clothes. I also remember a restaurant and food Hall which rivalled jenners... I bought a bottle of champagne in its closing down sale in the 80s!
