Woburn Deer
On my way to visit my mother in Suffolk, I made a few diversions to keep the camera finger happy! Earlier in the week I attended a blip meet in Woburn and took out the annual pass for the park. I took the opportunity to drive round today but not parking. Woburn does not really consider photographers - on the drive-through route the road is single track, no passing places or places to pull off and so any photo opportunity is luck as to whether another car comes along! I did not have good luck today.
This particular shot was taken at the entrance to the route where I returned having seen these guys at the start. Woburn is very close to me so I'll be able to return as often as I like and watch the deer through the year. I suspect that Richmond Park will remain the best opportunity for deer pics -and that's a bit further away.
My lovely Mum was in good form but has lost her hearing aid so communication was difficult! She can barely walk, only has vision in one eye and is pretty deaf. Does anyone else dread growing old? I wonder if modern technology and medical progress keeps the physical body going for longer that can be sustained. So many old people can't walk, talk, remember things, see or hear to any level of reasonable functionality but are still alive; most creatures would not survive without all their faculties. It worries me.
But I think what I most fear is that one day, my children will visit me with similar trepidation and challenge - it will not be a pleasure for them; they say not but I suspect that it will be what happens. Will I mind or won't I? I don't know. My mother is not unhappy, she is content with her TV and her chair, life goes on around her and she is largely unaware of everything - maybe she is the fortunate one. I doubt she has given Brexit a passing thought!
I had a few interesting skyscapes today on my journeys but chose this for the blip.
