Flash flood!

Saturday 11th June 2016 (1386)

An early start for the drive back home as I had a full day to deal with. I came via Skipton to avoid the motorway traffic.

We had a wedding at church early afternoon. Everyone arrived in the church before the rain started but during the service we could tell it was raining hard. When we got to the church door at the end of the service there was a technical hitch. The road was now a river, with a deep flood across the road and all through our lychgate, similar to the right of this picture. You would have needed wellies to get through it. Thankfully we have another gate lower down and the raised speed hump helped, but crossing the road to the car park still required a bit of a paddle. It was just unfortunate timing but the bride coped well.  I took this shot fifteen minutes later when the water had already started to disperse. I got rather wet taking it because of the wave this car created!

Full day ahead tomorrow!
