I have had the photo on the left since it was taken at a birthday party in Durban, South Africa, about 60 years ago, but I had never seen the one on the right, taken on the same occasion, until the day before yesterday.

It was emailed to me by my childhood friend, Primrose, the pretty little girl with the ribbon in her hair. I haven't seen her since we were 17, after which we lost touch, but we recently met up again via Facebook.

Dreich day, so I haven't ventured further than the newsagent today.
