The Dragon Path

We had a very pleasant stroll around Dunwich Heath today, and had quite a lot of good views of the iconic bird there - the Dartford Warbler. I was disappointed that I didn't manage to get a good photo of them. After a visit to the Tea Room, we decided to have a look for a hide shown on a map at the nearby Walberwick National Nature Reserve. This involved a long walk along duck boards through a swampy woods then a hemmed-in path between hedges with tantalising glimpses of reedbeds, before emerging onto the open reedbeds. No sign of the hide, so we had to retrace our footsteps. At least there were some fine views of Dragonflies once we emerged onto the reedbeds - like this beautiful golden female Four-spotted Chaser. Or it could be called the dragon path because it did rather drag on!
