A Day in Bristol
Today was spent in the delightful company of fellow blipper Serpentine, whose enthusiasm for life is truly infectious......... after a delicious lunch and lots of advice and tuition on how to make the best use of the controls on my little camera, we did a tour of the Lord Mayor's Chapel in Bristol.......the Verger was on hand to give plenty of information on the history of the building, most interesting, and my blip for today.
"At nearly 800 years old, the Lord Mayor's Chapel is not the oldest church in Bristol but has a fascinating history. It has translated its founding charter of the 13th Century into a contemporary ministry and Mission.
Chaplaincy to the Lord Mayor and City Council. Seeking to support the Council and the Lord Mayor in the now statutory responsibility to work toward the elimination of hunger and the alleviation of need in the City. Seeking to sustain the spiritual values of whatever kind in the work of the Council.
The Building is owned by Bristol City Council and cherished as beautiful place of worship with its centuries of tradition. Prayers are offered there at the beginning of every full Council meeting enhanced by the presence of a choir from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital School for Boys."
From there we visited the M Shed along the harbourside to see the Briswool exhibition, a knitted City of Briswool, in all it's woolly splendour. Finally, a walk to the City Farm to inspect B's allotment, do a lot of watering, and sit in the sun eating ice cream.
I arrive home at 6.20pm with a goody bag and felt as though I had been to a party......what a wonderful day, thank you again B.
My extras show the Briswool exhibition and a shot of the ferry boat.
The kitchen fitters finished late this evening and have to return to grout the tiles, but it is all looking very nice.
