Durian season
It's right at the start of durian season in Malaysia. Prices are still fairly high but will be coming down during the next few weeks. I stopped at a stall and ordered a whole durian. I ate half at the stall and got the rest to take away for later.
I was on my way to Siam Road Char Koay Teow, one of the oldest and most famous char koay teow stalls in Penang. The original chef is still working there and does all the cooking, aided by his son (see the extra photo). It might look like there's no queue but then you realise that the cafe opposite exists primarily to house all the people waiting for their noodles.
