Arapuni Swing Bridge

This bridge was built in 1925 as part of a hydro dam and power station construction.  It was used to link a township on one side of the river with the construction site on the other side so the workmen employed to construct the spillway and powerhouse could have easy walking access.  It's about 150 metres long and 40 metres above the river and is now a tourist attraction.

When I went to photograph it this morning there was an abseiling team doing maintenance on it.
