Chimney Sweeper Moth

I wandered down to the community meadow behind our house fully intending to mooch with pooch and grab a blip of the festival of colour currently on display. A week ago the meadow buttercups were the over riding colour but now they are being slowly usurped by the speedwell, campions, clovers red & white, birds foot trefoil, yarrow and eyebright to name but a few - a wonderful place to wander and wonder.
But as we made our way through the plants little dark shapes with bright white tips fluttered around our feet - the trick was not in spotting them ( they were everywhere) but in having the patience to sit and wait for one to settle. With pooch happily paddling in the Beck I was content to let a blip come to me, and after a little while that's just what this obliging little fellow did.

I know some of you like facts; the quickest id tip betwixt a butterfly and a moth is to look at the antennae. Butterfly's will usually have a small club or bulb at the end, Moths do not.
