Goodbye Bermuda

and well done to Seabreeze and davidc for correctly working out/guessing that l was in Bermuda for my holiday!!  The clues were rather subtle so l take my hat off (now l am away from the fierce heat of the Bermudaful sun) to you for getting it right.. and thanks to everyone who took part.. it kept me giggling!!
For the record 
Day 1 photo was taken at St Catherine's beach at the East of the island near the Fort. Having found Portuguese Men of War very much alive and washed up on that beach we decamped to Tobacco Bay and saw swarms of fish when a swimmer took a slice of bread into the shallows and fed them!!  It reminded me of feeding trout at trout farms but the colours were more resplendent!!
Day 2 We moved from St Georges to Devonshire where we rented an apartment.... it was perfect.. good aircon and a small pool with a large Great Dane guarding its gate.  We visited the unfinished church in St Georges and also the Perfumery.. that was fun too! After the move we went for a swim with Stella looking on.  Gucci (another PB) and Bailey (English Bulldog pup) lurked nearby.
Day 3 Ferry to Dockyard from Hamilton and learning to Scuba dive ... explanatory in journal
Day 4 The clue was the reference to the Dark and Stormy which if googled should have come up with the fact it is a Bermudan cocktail consisting of Goslings Dark Rum and Barrits Ginger Beer.  The clue in the picture is the white rooves which are fairly unique to Bermuda.. each house has a stepped roof which by law must be white and it airates and collects water when it rains which is then stored under the houses in huge tanks and provides all their drinking water and household water supplies. We visited the aquarium and this was looking across Harrington Sound where they have a very specific type of ray that lives and breeds only in the sound and they jump clear of the water and can often be seen doing so... sadly we didnt see any performing
Day 5 Was unbearably hot and humid with no sun.. we went on an adventure by bus to Somerset Bridge where they have the narrowest drawbridge.  lt is only wide enough to get the mast of the boat through!! We then walked some of the Train Trail to Whale Bay... the colours were astonishing but the weather could be seen to be coming in so we dashed back to catch the ferry from Rockaway.. missed it and waited an hour in torrential rain before leaping onto the next ferry.  It took us the long way back to Hamilton past one of the Americas Cup team centres where they are building and testing their boats ahead of the 2017 competition.. what astonishing boats they are!! 
Day 6 was taken at Church bay where we snorkelled and fried before a hilarious lunch (at 4 o clock) with the grumpiest, hungriest waitress l have ever come across!!  She hurrumphed and complained about everything.. puffing out her cheeks if we asked her for anything... we got the giggles. The venue was crying out for a top restaurant there with good service as the view across the bay was completely beautiful!!
Day 7 started with packing up the house and heading off to meet up with the cousins who have been out there for 4 years. We went for a picnic in their 30ft yacht (the engine nearly broke down so sailing was compulsory!!)  then a swim in their beautiful pool before showering and being dropped at our evening flight... 7 hours and next to no sleep and we are all feeling a little rough.. but what a holiday! photo taken from the airport door.. there is water on both sides of the runway :)

now.. must go and buy food for supper.. (back to normal with a bump!) but at least the sun is shining and it feels a bit like summer !!
