Highlander Mountain Marathon (day two)

Well the weather continued in the same vein as yesterday and after a dull start below low cloud from the mid camp in Strathfarrar, we soon broke through into an inversion at about 550m. Off came the jackets and on went the sunglasses and suncream.

We horsed over the hills to the north of Cannich, mostly contouring today for miles on end, refilling water bottles at every stream crossing. In this picture (taken with a greasy/sweaty GoPro) we passed over the Corbett of Sgurr na Diollaid even though it was going to impact our split times to the next control. But I wasn't going to forego a new Corbett by a few metres.

The descent to Cannich was great fun, a long steep track through birchwoods and oak before a bit of a trot along the tarmac to the finish at the village hall.

Overall a brilliant event, made even better by the fine weather. Sad to see it go.
