They have started to take the scaffolding down from the church tower. You can see some of the stonework which has been replaced and the re-pointing on the tower. The clock dial and hands have been refurbished but the movement still has to be renovated. The new oak louvres are in place and netting installed to keep the pigeons at bay. The soundproofing on the inside of the windows has still to be completed. But there are now outward signs of progress.
There is still some work that has to be done in the bell chamber. The 2 day village festival is in a few weeks time. The mini ring will be on the festival field on the Saturday and we are hoping that tower tours might be possible on the Sunday. This will mean us cleaning the inside of the tower. If the remaining work is not complete in the bell chamber this might mean that we could not include a visit to the bells on the tour.
