Drive all night

Today I said I would report on Bruce concert we went to last night.

It was another brilliant show. I attended this one with my teenage daughter who's not really that interested in the boss but said she would come with me, she was even amazed by him.

The day started with a 51/2 hour car journey due to volume of traffic. It was horrendous, I wasn't driving but I was so stressed thinking I wasn't going to get there. However, we arrived at our hotel where our lovely chauffeaur and her husband collected us.

We set off in plenty of time but again more traffic and another lengthy journey to a car park, then shuttle bus, short walk and into the Richo stadium for the concert.

He was already playing when we got there but it didn't matter, we soon got lost and mesmorised at his guitar playing, singing, crowd pleasing and energetic persona. He was brilliant as always from start to finish.

He hasn't reached the stage of being like paul mcCartney where he can't sing, any notes he can't hit anymore (he is 66) he adapts to fit or lets the crowd sing them. He is absolutely awesome.

He did a 31 song set, 3+ hours, most of my favourites, some I'd not seen him sing live before. As usual he kept the crowd entertained snd rocking all night long, The river, born to run, dancing in the dark where he invites people onto the stage to dance, people are getting wise now and make signs to dance with other band members so they get on stage, tonights date for bruce was a young lady who was 21! She couldn't dance bless her but never mind, and a tribute to clarence during the show also.

Whilst we were in our designated area, the pitch, seeing was a little difficult and the big screen was all we had, anyway after a quick scan round the stands I could see a block of empty seats. I watched these seats for about an hour and no one took them up. So after a visit to the bathroom with my teenage daughter (who dared to ask for it when bruce was singing!) We confidently made our way to the empty seats, no one stopped us, no one asked us and what a view we had. Completely happy now I could really enjoy the rest of the concert. Even my daughter enjoyed the view and began to sing along to waitin on a summer day.

So with the concert over, bruce left the stage and we made our way back to the car park. The crowds dispersed and whilst walking along we heard the pathetic little police siren, big blacked out cars followed the policemen on bikes. We decided it must be bruce in the cars, but he wasn't in one of the black cars, he was in a normal mercedes and he drove past us, I could have tapped on the window for him he was so close. A little wave came our way and then he was gone. That just topped my night. After 30 years (or more!) Of following this man I finally saw him close up.

It was a good job we had seen him so close up, the trip back to the hotel was not good. Bus, short walk, sit in the car park for nearly 2 hours before our chauffeur was able drive freely out. Once out it took no time at all.

It was another fantastic night out with my lovely Bruce, topped by seeing him so close.

The photo reminded me of a couple of songs from Bruce, 'It's gonna be a long walk home' only for us it was gonna be a long drive home and also 'drive all night'
