Beth's hen, day one

You know it's been an epic weekend when you come back with nearly 400 pictures, most of which leave you nearly weeing yourself with laughter. Definitely a sign of time well spent.

This morning we picked up our Super Hen and drove her off to the mystery location: a yurt in the absolutely stunning Peak District. The sun shone the whole way there and lit up the peaks majestically, it was pure Postman Pat land and we loved it.

Super Hen loved the location (yes!) and the yurt (yes!). We stuffed our faces with crisps and headed out into the peaks. A beautiful walk combining farmland, cows, rivers, caves, rock formations, lambs balancing on logs, paddling and, bizarrely, an ice-cream van. Super Hen on a walk is much like Super Hen at Ikea, far to distracted by every pretty thing she sees. Difficult to control in such picturesque surroundings. Every good walk should end with a beer, so we obliged at a Hartington local.

Back to the yurt for some very blingy prosecco before hitting up the local pub for dinner. Service in the Peaks is slow but the food is mammoth. We left with our bellies bulging which also meant drifting into a near comatose state once back at the yurt. We managed to keep our eyes open long enough to build a fire and toast some marshmallows, but a messy hen night it certainly was not.
