Munster-Géromé
The first thing you notice about this cheese is its strong smell. But it does not have a particularly strong taste.
From the Vosges mountains in the east of France, it was until 1978 two separate cheeses. Munster from the Alsace side of the Vosges, and Géromé from the Lorraine side of the Vosges. When the AOC was awarded in 1978 the two were united into Munster-Géromé.
It has an orange-yellow, sticky rind - with a pale cream interior (pâte). The flavour is that of a string milk - no where nearly as overpowering as its smell.
