Somawathiya Temple

The right tooth relic of Lord Buddha is housed in this temple. This is situated deep inside a jungle where wild animals roam freely.

Everyone believes that this is one of the holiest of places in Sri Lanka. There're pictures & videos of miraculous things happening in & around the temple. There're pictures of an entire procession with elephants & dancers coming out of the entirely covered temple walls. The tooth relic is being carried by a majestic elephant. There're videos of rays emitting out of the temple when the Sun is nowhere close to being shinning. There're pictures of a small baby elephant running into the temple.

During the war with the LTTE terrorists, the security of the temple was in question due to attacks. The monks in the temple reports that wild elephants used to come out of the jungle every evening & had stood guard of the temple around it in a circle.
