Poets for Hire
So I decided to road test these poets.
“Write me a poem about Scotland.”
A few minutes later this was the result.
Scotland
Hat would be a fine idea,
Your first year here
And you’re already burring.
When the lights go out
I feel millions of pinpricks
On my skin; a poetic impulse
Trying to make itself heard.

What do you think?
Poets for Hire is an entertaining concept, a new twist on busking.
But the big surprise in Hay town centre this afternoon, heaving with people because of the festival, was the discovery that some folk had no idea what a typewriter was !
I overheard one teenage girl and two small boys within the space of quarter of an hour ask what is a typewriter!
Now that was a bit of a cultural shock.
How soon will it be before young people ask:” What is a book?”
Poets for Hire are (left to right): Lewis Parker, Edmund Davie and Tim Siddall.
