MV Isle of Arran Leaving Campbeltown

16.0C sunny and bright. SSE breeze.

It was another of those infrequent days when Apothecary7 was working the odd hours of 7am to 3.30pm. I took Maeve the Deerhound out for a walk before 7am and decided to go though the park and sit over at the old jetty near the beginning of Low Askomill and wait for the ferry to leave. The morning light comes from that side of the loch and as I had hoped it was just right for some pictures of CalMac's MV Isle of Arran leaving Campbeltown. The tall ship by the old quay is called Thalassa.

While we were waiting a lady who I had seen walking an Afghan hound in the park came over and introduced herself. Her daughter and son in law have a shop near where we live and they had told her about Maeve. Bran the Afghan is a lovely dog, even bigger than Maeve and very quiet. He likes Westport beach just as much as Maeve does for being off the lead.

I went out before lunch to visit the fish shop. This is becoming a regular Friday thing. I bought Salmon fishcakes and a Salmon Scotch egg (two halves) which are made fresh in the shop. On the way back along the road I went into the shoe shop and got some new trainers to replace the most recent pair I have worn out walking Maeve.

After lunch I took Maeve out and there was a cool breeze so we went for a walk. Same route as yesterday. One or two Gannets were diving in the loch today and some Oystercatchers were near the shore where I had a seat. Mark Knopfler (The Soundtrack to Local Hero) and Jethro Tull (Broadsword and the Beast) on the iPod Mini. We came back through the park and then on the way home we stopped by the marina to speak to some people who wanted to meet Maeve.
