Off she goes

She has been counting down the weeks since she found out about this field trip last year. Four days at the Belgian coast with the entire third grade. She has spent the long weekend sorting, packing, checking and re-checking her list. I supervised the packing but had to let her do it on her own, so that she knew exactly what she had, to make life easier at the other end when she unpacked and for when she had to re-pack to come home. We had a lot of practice at her putting her sleeping bag back in the bag. It took her quite a few, frustrating, attempts but she finally cracked it!

Dex was really upset this morning and was very grumpy about the fact that we had to be at school for 7am, as he initially claimed it meant less sleep for him. However, through the tears he admitted he was grumpy because he was going to miss his sister. He said: "It's just not as much fun without Olivia." I'll remind him of that the next time they start bickering!

I have no doubt that Olivia will be fine and will love every minute of her trip away. Even though it is her first overnight trip away with the school she is so ready for it.
It's just me, Neil and Dex who aren't.
