Another exciting day:

2nd June 2016:

Schools begin at 7.30 am officially!
Here we have  the first extra pic of the girls rarin' go to class.
First impressions are that they all had a great morning.

Later we finished our day on the farm with the most amazing (for me) meeting and greeting and what I think volunteering should be about. The girls journeyed with the farm workers involving themselves in all activities.
They watered plants with the women and gathered tephrosia leaves ( brim full of nitrogen) to mulch a young crop of beans.
Later they helped on budded citrus needing to be de-suckered and removing the budding tape.

The whole day proved to be a most useful exercise in understanding and development. A really worthwhile adventure in getting around the barriers, what barriers? and something us Irish do very well.

From our experience there are no barrier between our students and the poorest Malawians. There are handshakes and hugs, smiles and laughter in place of words and generally the most warm of feelings.
Maybe its in our genes from our oppressed past or founded in our famine history.
Either way these guys have it and we love them for it.
