As the weather was so atrocious today we decided, for our monthly NT day out, to stay close to home so popped over to Basildon Park. It was lived in until the 1970's by the Iliffe family and has since been used for countless film locations. There is a garden room which must be about 30 ft in diameter with a mural painted all round and this blip shows just 4 sections. It portrays an era of exploration to Africa and the far east but now I think about it I'm not sure how long ago it was painted.
The house was also used as a military hospital and a PoW camp during WW2
