Exmoor deer

We were on a 12 mile hike with our local walking group doing a circular walk around Simonsbath on Exmoor.  Fairly early on in the walk we came across a very large herd of deer which were undecided which way to run when they saw us approaching.  They made a magnificent sight as they ran down a steep hill to stop half way and then turn back and retreat in the opposite direction.

The day was warm and cloudy as we climbed the rolling hills of Exmoor and returned along the rivers edge.  A lovely varied walk which ended up in a local pub. 

A pity I didn't take the larger camera but I had decided to keep my backpack light given the distance we were walking.
