Palace Hotel, Southend-on-Sea

The Palace is a classic seaside hotel.  It had fallen into a state of disrepair a few years ago, but has now been restored to its former glory (if you discount the strange Space Ship that has been added on its roof).

Laurel & Hardy stayed here for a few days in the 1950s.  We've toyed with the idea of staying for a while and decided to stay here tonight.  we were not disappointed.

It's a real gem.
